| A reader's ticket is issued for free on presentation of a proof of identity. More than 30,000 reference works, as well as a choice of over 800 foreign periodical publications, are on open access in the reading rooms. All the other documents are held in stacks and have to be ordered on-line, or, in some cases, with the help of an order form. Readers are requested to wait approximately 20-30 minutes before they can retrieve the requested document at the borrowing desk. Books may only be borrowed by readers who are at least 16 years old and who live in Luxembourg or in the close vicinity of the Grand Duchy. Borrowing is limited to six items. Readers using the media centre may borrow an additional six items. The following categories of documents may not be borrowed:
